2010 - 2011 funding round opens for Wairakei Charitable Trust.


The Wairakei Charitable Trust has announced that the 2010 - 2011 funding round is open for mitigation or marae facility projects. Applications need to be in by July 30th 2010.

Application forms for project funding (Maori and English versions) are available here or  through the secretary. Assistance with filling in the forms can be given by contacting the secretary.

This is the first funding round for projects. The second funding round, which includes scholarship applications will open on November 1st 2010 and will close on January 28th 2011 with scholarship preference given to those applicants studying in the environmental and sciences fields of study.

8 February 2010:  The Wairakei Charitable Trust has closed the 2009-2010 funding round and is now considering applications.  Details of the successful projects and scholarship recipients will be announced later this month.

The Wairakei Charitable Trust has announced that the 2009 - 2010  second funding round is open for mitigation or marae facility projects and scholarships. Applications for both need  to be in by January 29th  2010.

Te Rangiita Marae invite Rauhoto Marae, Oruanui Marae, and Maroa Marae to attend a Hui a Hapu for the Wairakei Charitable Trust AGM where the Trust will report back to the hapu on project funding and scholarships for 2009.

14 June  2009:  2009 - 2010 funding round opens for Wairakei Charitable Trust

The Wairakei Charitable Trust has announced that the 2009 - 2010 funding round is open and applications for mitigation or marae  facility projects need  to be in by August 30th 2009.

A second funding round for projects, and also for the annual scholarships this year will open on November 1st 2009 and will close on February 28th 2010 with preference given to those applicants studying in the environmental and sciences fields of study.

5 March 2009 : The Wairakei Charitable Trust today approved a further $11,500 of project funding and five $1000 educational scholarships.

The Trust approved funding for Te Wananga o Ngāti Rauhoto Ta Moko, a one off wananga based at Rauhoto Marae run by Geoff Rameka.  The three day wananga will demonstrate the art of Ta Moko. It will look at the history, and origins of Ta Moko and the significance to Ngati Rauhoto.

The Trust also granted five $1000 scholarships to students of nga hapu descent.

Applications for the 2009 - 2010 project funding round will be accepted after June 1st 2009. This funding round will close on August 30th 2009.

11 February 2009: The Wairakei Charitable Trust received six applications for project funding from the 2008-2009 funding round.

Two applications for funding were approved to a total of $12771.09.

The Maroanui Marae kitchen renovation and hot water system installation received funding and that project was completed over the holiday break. Funding was also approved for a weekend Whakapapa Wananga at the Paakira Marae, Waitahanui.

Applications for the 2008-2009 scholarships close on February 28th 2009. Application forms are available from the website or by emailing the secretary robyn.orchard@contactenergy.co.nz or by calling 0800 000458.
